Well about a week ago we had Kennywood Picnic Day with the boys. I thought I would share as the common theme of the day was talking about how it was when WE were the kids. Some things are different, some the same. You still have the girls with the matching outfits following cute boys around the park. There are still those swarms of adolescent boys trying to be tough guys and ride the biggest coasters. And parents sit under the trees and wait for their children to check in.
Ian was just a hair too shy to ride the Phantom's Revenge this year and has to wait until next year. Nicholas rode it again but I think it tipped him over the edge. He was nervous about the rest of coasters after that. It was fun to see how the two of them wanted pick out rides. We even did a new ride that combines riding through a fun house with a shooting gallery.
And as you can see, I insisted on the merry go round. Both boys have been riding it since they were tiny and I couldn't let a good thing stop.
What were everyone else's favorite Kennywood memories?

My absolute favorite Kennywood memories are of the park after dark. It was very exciting being out somewhere after dark, and Kennywood transforms into a magical wonderland when it's all lit up.
I just loved to go. We would get matching shirts (glad to see that it still a fun thing to do). In fact, I still today call the his-and-her matching outfits "Kennywood Shirts". Our school band went there a few times and that was fun. I remember going to the Newell day. A few years (quite a few) we took Kalen. Aunts Jane and Elizabeth rode some of the rides with him and they were squishing him when they went around the big bends. I like the addition of the water rides, although I probably would have been worried about my hair back in the day. I always like Noah's Arc, and can remember a few kisses exchanged that Tunnel of Love (whatever it is called) ride. I was also a big fan of the Rotor. Fun days. Everyone should have a Kennywood in their life.
