Let the Games Begin!

Sara checking in here, forgive my "superhero" name as this is what I use for my own blog. Laurie dubbed me that. Well today was the first day of the soccer mini camp and the weather didn't cooperate. Rain we can do... just not lightning. Both Nicholas (9) and Ian (5) will be playing this fall. The camp was set up with some MLS coaches which always plays well with the kids as they all have European accents. Nicholas will be doing travel soccer for the first time and both boys will be doing flight (practice and game at the same time). They are both chomping at the bit to start playing, especially Nicholas. Soccer is his passion and he is known to introduce himself as "Nick Bench, Iron Goalie". And the kid can take some punishment in the goal. Laurie can attest to the fact that he's taken some mean hits without even slowing down.

Ian is getting excited as he's waited patiently for a few years now to be old enough to play like his big brother. It doesn't hurt that he's starting kindergarten in 2 weeks either. His biggest complaint for the summer was not being able to read yet. Don't let that fool you though, he surprises us often with being able to recognize what some things say.

I'll post again when I have some back to school pictures and some sport shots to share. In the mean time here's one from Harry Potter night at the bookstore. And yes, Ladee, that tall blonde boy is the same tiny baby you got to hold. How did that happen?
